Tis’ the season to decks the halls and trim the tree. Does the idea of bringing in holiday décor give you a lil’ bit of home décor anxiety? I know for myself that it really does! My 6 and 8 year old have the idea that more is better and more is just MORE! I am a minimalist even during the Holiday Season. So, how do I determine what I display and bring into my home? Well, just like any design decision, I bring in what has meaning to myself and my family. Beautiful, soulful pieces that speak to our hearts and are reflective of memories of days gone by.
Every year we drive over to our local Ace Hardware and hand pick our tree. Not quite as charming as driving over to Christmas Tree Farm but it gives us what we need! This year, my son and husband, did the honors of selecting our tree. A stately, beautiful tree they did pick! We trim it with a few choice ornaments, lights and top it off with a felt lil’ Santa Claus. Volia! Beautiful!
We set up our crèche. Displaying first, Mary and Joseph, and then on Christmas Eve the Christ child. Lastly, the tree wise men from the East settle in on the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6th. The children love the anticipation of bringing in the lovely statues as their special day arrives.
We have our favorite stockings, music and treats of course. Not too much however, just enough to capture the peace, joy and love of the Holiday Season.
Peace, Rosanne
